Magnets in Year Three

Last Friday Year Three children investigated which materials are magnetic and which are not. They had great fun and really enjoyed discovering which items were magnetic for themselves. They learnt new vocabulary including ‘attract’ and ‘repel’ and discovered not all metals are magnetic. There was lots of science-talk and ’wow’ moments to be had, with lots of children saying they were going to continue their investigating at home!

DT and Science in Year Six…

In Year Six this week, children have been designing and making their own lighthouses out of recycled materials. They then used their knowledge of electrical cicuits to add lights and switches to their models to make real, working light houses – how fantastic!
